The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (RPCO) is a dynamic and versatile ensemble which incorporates performances of a wide range of styles and genres across the UK and around the world. The Orchestra’s repertoire includes film music, computer video games scores, music from the musicals, symphonic arrangements of classic rock and pop songs as well as new commissions and the traditional core classical repertoire, reaching a wide and diverse audience of over 170,000 live listeners per year. The Orchestra’s creative partnerships with artists, promoters and producers has resulted in ambitious performances in venues from vast arenas to the small intimate setting of a double decker bus. The RPCO aims to reach as wide an audience as possible and is unafraid to explore new orchestral experiences.
Vassilis Tsabropoulos, one of the greatest Greek pianists, expands his wide range of talent from the classical piano repertoire and conducting to the most contemporary forms of composition and improvisation. Having established a long-time record presence with ECM records as composer, but also collaborated with well known orchestras around the world, such as the London Philharmonia, Czech Philharmonic, Stockholm Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Italian Radio Symphony, etc., has built up an internationally versatile musical profile.

The concert on October 30th, which is part of the Athens Megaron cycle "Great Orchestras - Great Performers" will find Vassilis Tsabropoulos in the demanding double role of soloist and conductor. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, under his baton, will present Beethoven's heroic introduction Coriolan, written for the homonymous play by Heinrich Josef von Collin and two of the most beautiful and important concertos in piano literature - Mozart's dramatic concerto in d minor, admired by Beethoven and included often in his repertoire, and Beethoven's crown, the majestic "Emperor" piano concerto.
The concert takes place two months before the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great composer.
