The historic Cathedral Church of Athens, after many years of restoration following the severe damage caused by the devastating earthquakes of 1981 and 1999, is reopening its doors. To mark this landmark occasion, the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens, under the direction of the internationally acclaimed pianist, composer, and conductor Vassilis Tsabropoulos, together with soloists Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Nektaria Karantzi, will present a concert in the courtyard of the Cathedral on Sunday, July 3, at 21:00, in the presence of His Eminence, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos.

The Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens will present a special concert on Thursday, May 19, at 21:00, at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, under the direction of Vassilis Tsabropoulos.
Vassilis Tsabropoulos has composed the original soundtrack for the “Greek Oscars” — the Hellenic Film Academy Awards.
The music will be performed by the composer himself at the piano, together with the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens, under his own baton, on Monday, March 28, at the Onassis Cultural Center. The Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens, under the direction of Vassilis Tsabropoulos, will present a special concert where Dvořák’s Slavic lyricism meets the romantic melancholy of Schubert.
In the first part, the orchestra’s acclaimed soloist and principal cellist, Konstantinos Sfetsas, will perform Dvořák’s legendary Cello Concerto in B minor, widely regarded as the greatest and the “king” of all cello concertos. The internationally renowned pianist, composer, and conductor will interpret three piano concertos by J.S. Bach, Joseph Haydn, and W.A. Mozart, respectively. The program will conclude with one of Mozart’s most celebrated symphonies, composed when he was just 17 years old. A magical journey into the music of the North through the works of the famous composer Jean Sibelius will be presented by the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens, under the direction of Vasilis Tsamproboulos on the 9th and 10th of March 2015, at 21:00 at its concert house at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation. |
